The Best Vacation Ever

There it is, the building with the red roof,
I can already feel the excitement in the air
Pine trees all around, a deer can be seen off in the distance
The Little Oval in the center of the driveway

My grandmother comes outside to greet us
With her big smile and red hair
The big open living room with the blue carpet, everyone is there
Sitting in the big lazy couches.

The television on the shelf, Dumbo playing,
The piano sitting lazily in the corner, waiting to be played
And down the hall, the animal sheets feeling like
A home away from home.

The hot tub sitting on the back porch like
A welcoming chair for the tired and the weary.
The golf course in the distance, waiting to be played
By the most inexperienced golfer.

I can smell the barbeque cooking, grilled chicken
Specially cooked by Chef Grandpa in welcome to us
Pop-tarts in the morning, as many as we like, my grandmother says,
You're on vacation now, do what you like.

Sports Center in the morning, all the latest updates,
How did MJ do? Did the Lakers win?
Playing on the piano, even though you don't know how to play
Nobody cares because you're on vacation.

Sleep in, lay around and watch movies all morning,
You won't be bothered by others.
Practice putting on the carpet, putt into the K'nex box
That you and your uncle made together.

Go play golf a time or two, work on that swing,
Nobody cares if you shank it all the time.
Relax in the hot tub, Watch the world go by,
The best vacation ever, nobody cares and life goes on.
